Christy is set in Cutter Gap, real life Del Rio, Tennessee. There are numerous similarities between the character of Dr. MacNeill and Dr. Edward Jerome Peck, physician for the area around Del Rio including Hot Springs, North Carolina; Wolf Creek, Tennessee; Slabtown (Del Rio), and the mission school Dorland-Bell (established in 1887 by the Presbyterian Church). Dr. Peck is the subject of the upcoming book "He Loved the Folks: Dr. Edward Jerome Peck of Hot Springs, North Carolina" published by Cross Mountain Books. A section of the book will explore the similarities between Dr. MacNeill and Dr. Peck.

Author Bio
